What birds did you spot last weekend? 

Once you turn 30, something happens to your friend group. Half of them start playing in an adult recreational sports league, and the other half of them become birders. I think once you get far away from K-12 schooling, you start to miss gym class and homework, and birding fills the latter niche. It also fills you with a childlike sense of wonder that you just don't get from your 9-5 job!
